I am ME! But who is that? Have you ever sat back and really thought about that question? During the designing process for this new blog, I have been doing a lot of thinking. This question was one that I asked myself because I figured those that haven’t met me in person might have a desire to know who they are following/training with. So here goes……
I am a very laid back, easy going lady who spent her childhood in Texas. I grew up in Kingwood with two loving parents (whom are still married all these years later) and two siblings (older brother and younger sister). My parents brought us up in church and taught us great morals that I try to still live by today. I hope to be a great role model and pass the same morals on to my daughter. I spent most of my school years in gymnastics and cheerleading, which probably doesn’t surprise those who already know me, but explains my love for bodyweight training. Fitness has always been a huge part of my life. But after meeting my husband (now ex) and moving to San Diego, CA, fitness became even more important. We moved from Houston to San Diego, because he had finished his Navy SEAL training. We would go to the beach and he would put me through some BURM SPRINTS. Of course, if he had to do them….. why shouldn’t I?!
For those who are unfamiliar with burm sprints……
On Coronado Island where the SEALs train, they have very large piles of soft sand between the barracks and the surf line. We would sprint up one side and down the other, many times over. This may not seem like much but in soft sand sprints become very difficult. I have always had a LOVE/HATE relationship with running …leaning way more to the hate side!! So if I have a choice I will always choose sprints over long distance.
At that time in life, I had a job in telecommunications where I worked very long hours. I would go straight from work to the gym for another two hours each day (That craziness I will discuss in another blog all together). I decided I was over the crazy work hours and wanted to do something that I loved, so I pursued my first personal training certification in 2000. Why not…I was spending 2+ hours a day in the gym anyways? So for the first time, I felt like I had found my calling and got an internship with a personal training studio in La Jolla, California. This gives you a very brief insight to how I got to the career side of who I am, but more on that in the craziness blog that I just mentioned above. For now we will get back to more of the personal side of ME….Besides being a coach, I am a single mom of a beautiful 10 yr old daughter who is my life. She brightens my day with her gorgeous smile and hilarious personality. She has followed in my footsteps with gymnastics and cheerleading. So we spend time being active outdoors and at fitness activates like the trampoline gyms. We also love spending time with our friends as we are both very social. When I am not with my daughter, I am traveling regularly teaching all over the world. I love meeting new people, I have always been very friendly so I have never really met a stranger. I am a kind, caring person who loves making others laugh or smile and I always try to help cheer them up with they are down.
I am pretty much an open book…so if you want to know anymore about “ME” just ask.
